Shure KSM44MP Large-Diaphragm Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The Shure KSM44MP is a large-diaphragm studio condenser microphone with a 1-inch dual-diaphragm capsule and three selectable polar patterns: cardioid, omnidirectional and bidirectional. Shure voices it with a flat response and a subtle high-frequency emphasis that adds natural clarity with a gentle lift.
The dual-diaphragm architecture keeps sensitivity and pattern behaviour consistent and improves off-axis control at low frequencies, which helps when several microphones share a room. Self-noise is 5 dBA in cardioid, 7 dBA in omnidirectional and 8 dBA in bidirectional, so quiet sources stay clean.
Switching pattern lets one microphone suit a focused single source, a wider room or ensemble pickup, or a two-sided arrangement. It connects through a 3-pin XLR and needs 48 V phantom power from a preamp, interface or console.

Installation and Setup
- Connect through a 3-pin XLR cable to a preamp, interface or console that supplies 48 V phantom power (5.9 mA).
- Mount the microphone in the supplied shock mount; spare shock mount bands are included.
- For very loud sources, the 15 dB pad raises maximum SPL from 130-135 dB to 145-150 dB.
