Video conferencing systems for meeting rooms and hybrid teams

A hybrid workspace connects people in the office with colleagues at home or in other cities, so every room needs a camera that frames the people in it, microphones that pick up every seat, and speakers that make remote voices clear. This page brings those parts together: Logitech Rally video bars and modular Rally systems for rooms from huddle spaces to boardrooms, Rally Mic Pods and cabling, and wired and wireless headsets from Logitech and Yealink for desks and home offices.

This page helps plan the system for each room and desk. To compare ready-made room kits by platform and size, see Video Conferencing Kits; for personal audio across all brands, see Headsets & Headphones.

Designing a hybrid workspace

Match the system to the room size

Small rooms suit an all-in-one bar with a wide view: the Logitech Rally Bar Mini has a 120-degree diagonal field of view and 4x digital zoom for huddle rooms. Medium to large rooms need optical zoom: the Rally Bar has 15x HD zoom (5x optical) and a 90-degree field of view. Large rooms and boardrooms use the modular Rally Plus, with two speakers and two Mic Pods, which Logitech shows in layouts of up to 46 seats with additional Mic Pods.

Personal devices for desks and home

Hybrid work also happens at desks, in open offices and at home, where a headset gives better speech than a laptop microphone and keeps calls private. Wired USB headsets such as the Logitech Zone Wired suit fixed desks; Bluetooth headsets such as the Yealink BH72 suit people who move between desk, meeting room and phone calls. Give each user the same platform settings in the office and at home, so a call sounds the same wherever they join from.

Microphone coverage for every seat

Each Logitech Rally Mic Pod has a pickup range of 4.5 m and a mute button within reach of the table. The Rally Bar accepts up to 3 additional Mic Pods and the Rally Bar Mini up to 2, while the modular Rally system supports up to 7. Rally Mic Pod Extension Cables add 10 m each, so pods can sit at the far end of a long table.

Platforms, modes and room control

Appliance mode or PC mode

The Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini can run a meeting platform on their built-in computer, with no room PC, and Logitech lists Microsoft Teams, Zoom Rooms and RingCentral among the supported platforms. The same bars can also connect by USB to a room PC. Decide the platform first, because it sets the touch controller, the management tools and the licences.

Touch control and guest laptops

A table touch controller such as Logitech Tap starts meetings with one touch and keeps the controls the same in every room. Guests who need their own platform can connect a laptop to the room camera and microphones with a BYOD connector from Switchers & Extenders, such as Logitech Swytch or Logitech Extend.

Where hybrid systems are used

Hybrid systems serve huddle rooms, project rooms and boardrooms in offices, as well as desks and home offices, so one company may need three or four room types and a headset policy. Boardrooms add presentation and display decisions; see Boardrooms & Meeting Rooms. In UAE offices, glass-walled meeting rooms are common, and hard glass and stone surfaces cause echo, so allow for acoustic treatment and test speech from the far end before handover.

Installation and planning

A hybrid room works when the camera, microphones and display are placed together. Before ordering, check:

  • Room size and seats: the table length and number of seats, which decide between a Rally Bar Mini, Rally Bar or Rally Plus.
  • Camera position: the camera at the display, at eye level, with the whole table inside its field of view.
  • Network and power: a network point and power at the display, and a cable route to the table for Mic Pods and the touch controller.

The Logitech Rally Mounting Kit fixes the Rally camera and speakers at the display. For the display itself, the VSYS range covers wall mounts, floor stands and trolleys; confirm the VESA pattern and weight before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Which Logitech Rally system suits which room size?

Logitech positions the Rally Bar Mini for small meeting and huddle rooms, the Rally Bar for medium to large rooms, and the modular Rally Plus for large rooms and boardrooms. The Rally Bar Mini has a 120-degree diagonal field of view and 4x digital zoom.

The Rally Bar has 15x HD zoom, of which 5x is optical, and a 90-degree field of view. The modular Rally system supports up to 7 Mic Pods and 2 speakers, and Logitech shows it in layouts of up to 46 seats.

How many Rally Mic Pods can be added to a Logitech Rally Bar?

The Logitech Rally Bar supports up to 3 additional Rally Mic Pods, and the Rally Bar Mini up to 2. The modular Rally and Rally Plus systems support up to 7 Mic Pods in total.

Each Mic Pod has a pickup range of 4.5 m and a mute button. Add pods when seats are beyond the reach of the bar's own microphones, typically at the far end of a long table, and use Rally Mic Pod Extension Cables of 10 m each for longer runs.

Does a Logitech Rally Bar need a room PC?

No. The Logitech Rally Bar and Rally Bar Mini can run a meeting platform on their built-in computer in appliance mode, so the room needs no separate PC. Logitech lists Microsoft Teams, Zoom Rooms and RingCentral among the platforms that can run on the device.

The same bars can also run in USB mode, connected to a room PC or a laptop that runs the meeting software. Choose the mode before ordering, because it decides the touch controller and the licences the room needs.

What is the difference between a video bar and a modular conference system?

A video bar such as the Logitech Rally Bar combines the camera, microphones and speakers in one unit at the display, which keeps installation simple in small and medium rooms.

A modular system such as the Logitech Rally Plus separates them: a PTZ camera at the display, two speakers and two Mic Pods as standard, and up to 7 Mic Pods in total. That lets the speakers and microphones be placed where a large room needs them.

How far can the Logitech Rally Bar camera zoom?

The Logitech Rally Bar has 15x HD zoom, made up of 5x optical and 3x digital zoom, with a motorised pan and tilt and a 90-degree diagonal field of view. Its total room coverage with pan and tilt is 132.1 degrees horizontal by 82.2 degrees vertical.

This optical zoom keeps people at the far end of a medium or large room sharp. The Rally Bar Mini instead uses 4x digital zoom with a wider 120-degree view, suited to small rooms where people sit close to the camera.

Can guests use their own laptop with a Logitech Rally room?

Yes, with a BYOD connector. Logitech Swytch links a guest laptop to the room camera, microphones and display with one USB cable, and Logitech Extend does the same over category cable for up to 100 m, with up to 100 W of laptop charging.

The guest then runs their meeting platform on the laptop while using the room's audio and video. Logitech Extend works in BYOD mode with the Rally Bar family.

Should hybrid workers use a wired or a Bluetooth headset?

Use a wired USB headset such as the Logitech Zone Wired for a fixed desk, where it needs no charging and plugs into the computer. Use a Bluetooth headset such as the Yealink BH72 for people who move between desk, meeting rooms and mobile phone calls.

Both keep speech clearer than a laptop microphone in an open office. Choose a model that matches the company's meeting platform and check that IT can manage firmware updates for it.

Where should the camera go in a hybrid meeting room?

Place the camera at the display, at about eye level, so remote participants see people looking towards them. The whole table should fit inside the camera's field of view: 120 degrees diagonal on the Logitech Rally Bar Mini and 90 degrees on the Rally Bar.

Avoid a window behind the seats, which leaves faces in shadow. The Logitech Rally Mounting Kit fixes the Rally camera and speakers at the display.

Why does a glass meeting room sound worse on video calls?

Glass walls, stone floors and bare ceilings reflect sound, so microphones pick up echo and room noise as well as speech. Remote participants hear the room as hollow, even when it sounds fine to the people inside.

Soft furnishings, acoustic panels and carpet reduce reflections. Placing Logitech Rally Mic Pods closer to the talkers, within their 4.5 m pickup range, also improves the ratio of speech to echo. Test speech from the remote side before handover.

What information is needed to plan video conferencing for an office?

Plan with six facts: the number of rooms by size, the seats and table length in each, the meeting platform, whether guests bring their own laptops, the number of desks and home workers, and how IT will manage the devices.

These decide between a Logitech Rally Bar Mini, Rally Bar or Rally Plus per room, how many Mic Pods are needed, whether BYOD connectors are fitted and which headsets each user gets.
