Wireless presentation and screen sharing for meeting rooms
A wireless presentation system sends a laptop, tablet or phone screen to the meeting room display without an HDMI cable, through a button, an app, a dongle or the device's own casting feature. A base unit or receiver connects to the display and handles the incoming streams, so presenters change over in seconds. This collection covers the Barco ClickShare C-10, the MAXHUB WB05 screen sharing box, Clevertouch CleverHub 2 and CleverCast, and dongles and casting kits from OneScreen, ViewSonic, Hikvision, Dahua and others.
Wireless sharing solves the presenting part of a meeting. When the room also needs a camera and microphones for remote participants, compare Video Conferencing Kits and Video Bars & All-in-One Systems; when presenters need to write on the content, pair the sharing system with one of the Interactive Panels.
How to choose a wireless presentation system
Number of sources on screen
Decide how many people need to share at the same time. The Barco ClickShare C-10 shows 2 sources on screen side by side, which suits a presenter comparing two documents. The Clevertouch CleverHub 2 and the MAXHUB WB05 let up to 9 devices share at once, and the CleverCast dongle shares up to 8 devices, which suits workshops and classrooms where several groups show their work.
Resolution and frame rate
Check the output resolution against the display and the content. The Barco ClickShare C-10 outputs 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) at 30 Hz, which is sharp for slides and spreadsheets. The MAXHUB WB05 outputs 4K at 60 Hz for smoother video, and the Clevertouch CleverCast offers 4K screen mirroring over Wi-Fi 6. For video with motion, a higher frame rate gives a more natural picture.
Button, app or native casting
The sharing method decides how easy the system is for guests. The Barco ClickShare C-10 uses a USB Button that the presenter plugs into the laptop and presses, with 1 or 2 Buttons in the box, plus the ClickShare app for desktop and mobile. The CleverHub 2 accepts Miracast, AirPlay and Chromecast without extra software, and the CleverCast pairs a phone with a tap on its NFC area.
Network, security and room integration
Standalone or on the company network
Most systems can run their own Wi-Fi for guests or join the company network. The Barco ClickShare C-10 supports WPA2-PSK in standalone mode and IEEE 802.1X with the Button in network integration mode, with a 1 Gbit LAN port and a wireless reach of up to 30 m. The MAXHUB WB05 has dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and can be powered over PoE from the network switch.
Bring your own meeting (BYOM)
BYOM lets a laptop's own meeting app use the room's camera, microphones and display. The MAXHUB WB05 and the Clevertouch CleverHub 2 support BYOM, and the CleverHub 2 can present across up to 3 screens through its dual HDMI and USB-C ports. The Barco ClickShare C-10 is a presentation system only: it does not connect room peripherals, so pair it with a video bar where calls are needed.
Where wireless presentation is used
Meeting rooms and boardrooms use wireless sharing so visitors and staff present without searching for adapters; see Boardrooms & Meeting Rooms. Classrooms and training rooms use multi-source systems so several students or teams can show their screens in turn; see Education & Training Spaces. In UAE offices that host many external visitors, a guest-friendly method such as a button or native casting avoids installing software on visitors' laptops.
Installation and room planning
A wireless presentation system needs a short list of checks before it is ordered:
- Display inputs: confirm a free HDMI input, or two for systems with dual outputs, and the display's resolution.
- Network: agree with IT whether the system runs standalone Wi-Fi or joins the network, and which security mode applies.
- Power and placement: place the base unit near the display in a ventilated position; the Barco ClickShare C-10 is rated for 0 °C to 40 °C.
Mount the meeting room display on a rated VSYS wall mount, floor stand or trolley that matches its VESA pattern and weight, and leave a cable route for the base unit behind the screen.
Wireless presentation systems by type
The products in this collection fall into three types.
- Button-based systems: the Barco ClickShare C-10, with 4K output and 2 sources on screen.
- Sharing boxes and hubs: the MAXHUB WB05 and the Clevertouch CleverHub 2, each sharing up to 9 devices with BYOM support.
- Dongles and casting kits: the Clevertouch CleverCast, OneScreen Cast C1 and the ViewSonic, Hikvision and Dahua dongles; check that each dongle is listed as compatible with the display it will serve.
