Overview

What is the Bose ArenaMatch AM40/60?

The Bose ArenaMatch AM40/60 is an outdoor DeltaQ array loudspeaker module with a 60° × 40° coverage pattern, one 14 in woofer, six compression drivers and 750 W passive power handling. It is rated IP55 for direct outdoor exposure and certified to EN 54-24, built for music and speech in stadiums, arenas and large outdoor venues such as those in the UAE. Part code 794042-3380.

The Bose ArenaMatch AM40/60 is the 40° vertical module of the ArenaMatch DeltaQ outdoor array series, fitted with a 60° horizontal waveguide. Modules with 10°, 20° or 40° vertical coverage combine into arrays whose directivity changes from box to box to match the audience area, and Bose uses 40° modules for point-source applications as well as in line arrays.

Why this product

Key Benefits

  • DeltaQ array design

Directivity, or Q, can vary from module to module in an array, so coverage follows the shape of the seating and listeners hear consistent, intelligible sound.

  • 40° vertical module, 60° waveguide

The 40° vertical pattern and 60° horizontal waveguide give a 60° × 40° footprint with a narrower horizontal spread, and mixing 10°, 20° and 40° modules builds arrays with fewer boxes, better sight lines and lower weight.

  • Replaceable horizontal waveguides

The 60° waveguide can be swapped for an 80° or 100° one, and left and right arrays can use different waveguides to form asymmetrical patterns.

  • High-output transducers

One LF14 neodymium 14 in woofer and six titanium-diaphragm EMB2S compression drivers deliver high-SPL music and clear speech.

  • Built for direct outdoor exposure

A three-layer stainless steel grille, water-resistant woofer cone coating, industrial polyurethane exterior coating and molded input cover give an IP55 rating.

  • Passive, bi-amp or 70 V / 100 V

Every module ships with a passive crossover, bi-amp capability and 70 V / 100 V transformer inputs, so the same box suits low-impedance arrays or distributed lines.

Use cases

Applications

  • Professional stadiums and arenas

The 40° module serves point-source positions and line-array slots that need wide vertical coverage.

  • Educational sports complexes

Outdoor rating and EN 54-24 certification suit fields that also need emergency announcements.

  • Outdoor hospitality venues and restaurant and bar areas

Weatherproof arrays carry music and speech across large terraces and event lawns.

  • Places of worship

Arrays deliver clear speech to large outdoor congregations.

Recommended Amplifiers

In passive mode, one channel of the Bose PowerShareX PSX4804D delivers 1200 W, inside Bose's recommended 750 W to 1500 W for the AM40/60, so one amplifier powers four modules. For 70 V or 100 V operation, size each channel from the total selected transformer taps, cable losses and the design headroom; verify the allocation in Bose's PowerShare Design Tool.

For bi-amp operation, a PSX4804D channel (1200 W) suits the LF section's 600 W to 1200 W range, and a channel of the Bose PowerShareX PSX1204D (300 W) suits the HF section's 150 W to 300 W range. Bose supplies presets in ControlSpace Designer software for signal processing.

Recommended Rigging

Bose lists the AMUBRKT U-bracket, AMAPSHRT array plates short kit, AMAPLONG array plates long kit, AMMCPLAT module connect plate, AMAPSPRD array spreader bar and AMPULL pullback bracket as optional accessories for this module. The standard M12 threaded inserts also accept custom array frames.

Recommended Waveguides

The AM40/60 ships with the 60° waveguide. To change coverage later without replacing the module, fit the AM40 80° waveguide or the AM40 100° waveguide.

Expert FAQs

What is the power rating of the Bose ArenaMatch AM40/60?

The Bose ArenaMatch AM40/60 handles 750 W continuous and 3000 W peak in passive mode. In bi-amp mode the LF section takes 600 W continuous (2400 W peak) and the HF section 150 W continuous (600 W peak).

Which amplifier works with the Bose AM40/60?

The Bose AM40/60 needs 750 W to 1500 W per module at 8 Ω in passive mode, which a single 1200 W channel of the Bose PowerShareX PSX4804D provides. For bi-amp use, Bose recommends 600 W to 1200 W for the LF section and 150 W to 300 W for the HF section, with presets from ControlSpace Designer.

Can the Bose AM40/60 run on a 70 V or 100 V line?

The Bose AM40/60 has a built-in transformer with 70 V taps of 100 W, 200 W and 400 W and 100 V taps of 200 W and 400 W. One 1200 W amplifier channel can drive three modules on the 400 W tap.

Can the Bose AM40/60 be bi-amped?

The Bose AM40/60 ships with bi-amp capability, with separate LF and HF inputs at 8 Ω each. The internal passive crossover point is 950 Hz, and in bi-amp mode Bose ControlSpace presets handle the crossover instead.

Can I change the horizontal coverage of the Bose AM40/60?

The Bose AM40/60 uses a replaceable horizontal waveguide, so its 60° pattern can be changed to 80° or 100° with a waveguide kit. Left and right arrays can also use different waveguides to form asymmetrical patterns.

Is the Bose AM40/60 suitable for direct outdoor exposure?

The Bose AM40/60 is rated for direct-exposure outdoor installations, with an IP55 rating per EN60529. It has a three-layer stainless steel grille, water-resistant woofer cone coating, industrial polyurethane exterior coating and a molded input cover.

Is the Bose AM40/60 certified for voice alarm systems?

The Bose AM40/60 is certified to EN 54-24:2008 as a loudspeaker for voice alarm systems for fire detection and fire alarm systems in buildings. Under EN 54-24 its ingress rating is IP33C; refer to the installation guide for the certified configuration.

How much does the Bose AM40/60 weigh and how is it rigged?

The Bose AM40/60 weighs 34.9 kg and measures 489 × 783 × 400 mm. It uses standard M12 threaded inserts for Bose array accessories or custom array frames.
