ELX200 speakers and subwoofers

The ELX200 range is a 2-way speaker family in 10, 12 and 15-inch sizes, each as a passive model or a powered "P" model. The powered ELX200-12P delivers up to 1,200 W Class D and 130 dB maximum SPL, and the ELX200-15P reaches 132 dB. The ELX200-18SP subwoofer adds up to 1,200 W and 132 dB, reaching 40 Hz at -10 dB, and the 12SP is a compact 12-inch option.

EVOLVE column systems

EVOLVE systems combine a slim column and a subwoofer that assemble without tools. The EVOLVE 50 has a 1,000 W Class D amplifier and a 12-inch subwoofer reaching 37 Hz and 127 dB, with 120° horizontal by 40° down-tilted coverage. The EVOLVE 50M adds an 8-channel digital mixer, and the compact EVOLVE 30M has six 2.8-inch drivers, a 10-inch subwoofer and 1,000 W split between column and sub.

DSP and app control

Electro-Voice builds QuickSmartDSP into the powered models. ELX200 powered speakers and subwoofers are set up from the rear panel or from the QuickSmart Mobile app over Bluetooth, which controls up to 6 speakers from the audience area. The EVOLVE 50 offers Music, Live, Speech and Club presets with a 3-band EQ and 5 user presets, and the ELX200-18SP offers 80, 100, 120 or 150 Hz low-pass settings.

System building

Passive or powered ELX200

Powered ELX200 models need only mains power and a signal, which suits events and rental. Passive models, such as the ELX200-12, need an external amplifier from Power Amplifiers, and suit fixed installations where electronics stay in a rack. Electro-Voice describes the passive ELX200-12 as a workhorse that holds up on stage or on the wall.

Built-in mixing on EVOLVE

The mixer models remove the need for a separate desk. The EVOLVE 30M mixer was co-engineered with Dynacord and has four XLR/TRS combo inputs, Bluetooth audio, Hi-Z and footswitch inputs and 30 effects presets across two effects channels. For larger events with more inputs, add a mixer from Mixers.

Where Electro-Voice is used

Electro-Voice portable systems serve corporate events and presentations, hotel functions, schools, houses of worship, bars and live music, and rental companies. EVOLVE columns suit rooms where a slim speaker looks better than a box, such as hotel functions and conferences; ELX200 speakers and subwoofers suit louder events and stages. In the UAE, keep portable speakers out of direct sun during outdoor events and use weather-rated installed speakers for permanent outdoor positions.

Installation and planning

Portable systems are chosen by audience size and how often they move. Before ordering, check:

  • Audience and level: an EVOLVE column for speech and background music, ELX200 with subwoofers for live music and dance.
  • Inputs: the number of microphones and sources, and whether an EVOLVE mixer is enough or a separate mixer is needed.
  • Mounting: pole, truss or wall positions for semi-permanent use.

Electro-Voice rates the ELX200-15P at up to 1,200 W Class D and 132 dB maximum SPL, using an EVS-15M 15-inch woofer and a DH-1L 1-inch titanium compression driver.

Like the other powered ELX200 models, it uses QuickSmart Mobile over Bluetooth LE to control up to 6 speakers from the audience area. Add an ELX200-18SP subwoofer for full-range music.

What does the Electro-Voice ELX200-18SP subwoofer add?

The ELX200-18SP is a powered 18-inch subwoofer with up to 1,200 W Class D, 132 dB maximum SPL and a frequency range of 40 to 145 Hz at -10 dB. It is Electro-Voice's lightest 18-inch powered subwoofer, in a wooden enclosure.

It offers 80, 100, 120 or 150 Hz low-pass settings and Music, Live and Club presets, set from the rear panel or the QuickSmart app.

What is the Electro-Voice EVOLVE 50?

The EVOLVE 50 is a portable column system with a 12-inch subwoofer and a 1,000 W Class D amplifier, reaching 37 Hz and 127 dB. The column covers 120° horizontally and 40° vertically with a down-tilt, which reaches both seated and standing audiences.

The pole sits on a magnet and the column is held by gravity, so it assembles by hand without tools. QuickSmartDSP offers Music, Live, Speech and Club presets plus 3-band EQ.

What is the difference between the EVOLVE 50 and EVOLVE 50M?

The EVOLVE 50M adds a built-in 8-channel digital mixer with preamps and effects to the EVOLVE 50 column system, so a presenter or band can run without a separate mixer.

The EVOLVE 50M uses eight 3.5-inch neodymium drivers covering 120° and a 12-inch subwoofer with up to 1,000 W of Class D power. Choose the EVOLVE 50 when a mixer is already available, and the 50M for self-contained setups.

Who is the Electro-Voice EVOLVE 30M made for?

The EVOLVE 30M is a compact powered column system with a built-in 8-channel mixer, made for solo performers, presenters and small events. It has six 2.8-inch neodymium drivers covering 120° and a 10-inch subwoofer.

Its 1,000 W Class D amplifier is split 500 W to the column and 500 W to the sub. The mixer, co-engineered with Dynacord, has four XLR/TRS combo inputs, Bluetooth audio, Hi-Z and footswitch inputs and 30 effects presets.

Can Electro-Voice speakers be controlled from a phone?

Yes. Powered ELX200 speakers and subwoofers use the QuickSmart Mobile app over Bluetooth LE to adjust settings and control up to 6 speakers from the audience area.

EVOLVE column systems also use QuickSmart, with presets and user settings. This lets an operator walk the room and adjust levels and EQ while hearing what the audience hears.

How are EVOLVE column speakers mounted permanently?

Electro-Voice offers EVOLVE wall mount kits and a truss mount for semi-permanent use. This collection lists the EVOLVE-WMK-PB Phoenix-style wall mount kit in black, the EVOLVE-WMK-NW NL4-connector wall mount kit in white and the EVOLVE-TM-B truss mount.

Which ELX200 sizes are available?

The ELX200 range comes in 10, 12 and 15-inch 2-way speakers, each as a passive model (ELX200-10, -12, -15) or a powered model (ELX200-10P, -12P, -15P), and in 12 and 18-inch subwoofers, passive (12S, 18S) or powered (12SP, 18SP).

Powered 12 and 15-inch models deliver up to 1,200 W, and the 18SP subwoofer reaches 132 dB. The collection lists several in black and white versions.
